My name is Andrew Nicols. I'm 23 and I'm originally from Watford. I now live and work in Lancaster.
I graduated from Lancaster University in 2007 with a Masters by Research (MRes) in Design and Evaluation of Advanced Interactive Systems, in which I received a Distinction grade.
My graduated from my BA (Hons) in Music Technology in 2006.
I now work for Lancaster University Network Services where I primarily work on writing software which will be used by end users. My other job also includes a variety of Linux and Solaris system administration.
My acadamic interests have primarily focused around Human-Computer Interaction with particular emphasis on multimedia interactions and large-screen displays.
I'm keen to expand my interests in HCI and have a varied background covering music and music technology, computer science, and some aspects of marketting in addition to the more hci-related aspects of my degree.
My personal interests include computing, music, travel, meeting people, cinema and film, coding, ski-ing and sailing.
I have recently worked on:
- A 3D turtle-graphics System implemented in Second Life. This is the subject of a paper I co-authored recently and presented at the 2007 BCS - HCI conference in Lancaster.
